Beacon Hill
The Beacon Hill Neighborhood Redevelopment project stands as a prominent example of new urbanism, designed as a vibrant, mixed-use neighborhood. Newmark Zimmer served as the master developer on behalf of the City of Kansas City, orchestrating a transformative development in a key area of the city.
Spanning 90 acres, the Beacon Hill neighborhood features a rolling terrain and offers panoramic views of downtown Kansas City. Its strategic location, within walking distance of notable landmarks such as Hospital Hill, Crown Center, and the historic Union Station, enhances its appeal. The neighborhood is easily accessible from Bruce R. Watkins Drive, making it a central and convenient area for residents and visitors alike.
The project, designated as a 353 Redevelopment Area, benefits from a 25-year tax abatement, underscoring its long-term investment value. Over the course of the ten-year development, Newmark Zimmer has overseen the construction of more than 90 new homes, two multifamily projects comprising 450 units, and a retail space. Additionally, a 100-room hotel has been established, and 35 existing homes have undergone renovations. This substantial development, with an investment totaling approximately $150,000,000, has significantly revitalized the area between Troost Avenue and the Paseo, contributing to the city’s urban renewal and growth.
