Johnson County Courthouse
Newmark Zimmer had the honor of providing owner’s representative services for the new Johnson County Courthouse, an award-winning project located in downtown Olathe, Kansas. This landmark development, boasting a substantial budget of $193,000,000, encompasses a vast 320,000 square feet and rises seven stories high.
The courthouse features a comprehensive design that includes 28 courtrooms, three hearing rooms, and the District Attorney’s Office, alongside various administrative support functions. The design process, which commenced in 2016, focused on crafting a facility that would remain suitable and functional for the next 75 years. Consequently, the courthouse integrates flexible and sustainable design elements, such as enhanced security features, efficient circulation, and advanced technology, all meticulously tailored to meet the evolving needs of Johnson County.
Notably, the Johnson County Courthouse, completed in 2020, garnered significant recognition. It received the prestigious DBIA-Mid-America Region Project of the Year Award, reflecting the project’s outstanding design and execution.
In addition to acting as the owner’s representative, Newmark Zimmer played a critical role in managing various aspects of the project. The team took responsibility for securing necessary entitlements and approvals, overseeing the project schedule, managing the budget, and coordinating contracts. Thus, their comprehensive involvement ensured that the project not only met its objectives but also set a new standard for public-service facilities.
